Job agencies are growing in popularity as the world continues its journey deeper into the digital age. More IT businesses are using these powerful recruiters to find the best prospects. As more businesses make the transition, opportunities are increasing for candidates. It’s a revolving door that benefits both sides of the spectrum.

This blog post is going to look at IT job agencies from the perspective of job seekers and reveal their top benefits. The job search process is a stressful experience. It’s usually urgent because people applying for new jobs are usually unemployed. However, there are benefits to looking for new opportunities while you are still employed.

With that said, job agencies are one of the best ways to kickstart your career. Hiring agents come with a load of benefits.

What Exactly Are Job Agencies Doing?

Job agencies assist businesses in finding candidates to fill their positions by screening through a large pool of potential job applicants and segmenting those groups into qualified candidates. As you might guess, this helps businesses fill positions much more efficiently. But this blog post is about the benefits that potential job seekers receive so let’s flip the coin.

Job agencies provide candidates with jobs that match their profile. This is a huge benefit because rather than spending countless hours customizing your resume for jobs that you are not actually qualified for, you are investing your time in positions that match your skillset.

The Different Types of Recruitment

There are three main categories of recruitment that agencies focus on so let’s take a quick look at those before moving on to the main topic.

  • Recruitment and Selection: This is our main focus and is the process of a business trying to fill a position in their company. This is a standard job search.
  • Project Sourcing: Sometimes a business doesn’t need to fill a position. They need to build a team to work on a single project. That’s where project sourcing occurs.
  • Interim: Businesses sometimes need to fill a position temporarily so they will bring on a temporary employee. Some hiring agents do help here but in most cases, a temping agency is used.

Benefits of Using Job Agencies

Remember that job agencies have the primary task of helping businesses fill specific positions. That’s the core of their model. Job seekers get the benefit of being able to see job listings that are directly related to their skill set but you have to always remember that the primary focus of agencies is to assist the business. Keep that in mind while reading through these benefits. It’s up to the job seeker to use the tools and take initiative.

Benefit #1: Recruiters will Do a Majority of the Research for You

Job hunting can be quite overwhelming and stressful as we’ve already seen. Having a tool that helps you filter out jobs that are not a good fit will save you countless hours. Think about the traditional process of a job search: job seekers spend hours researching companies and sifting through ads to find job openings, then they have to write their resumes to match that job and apply. Think about how inefficient this process can become without jobs being filtered. Imagine spending an hour filling out an application for a job you never had a chance of getting.

Job agencies develop entire databases and systems that help filter jobs based on certain criteria. As long as you fill out your profile correctly and take all of the right skill tests, then the majority of jobs you apply to will match your skillset. It’s much more efficient.

Benefit #2: Access to a Database of Job Openings

Being able to filter jobs allows you to easily build a list of the top positions that match your skillset. This is much more efficient than going through newspapers and individual company websites. These large databases will give you a lot of valuable information right at your fingertips.

Job seekers will be able to efficiently put in several applications in the same amount of time as it takes to do one quality application using the traditional approach.

Benefit #3: Find Better Matches

Benefits of Using Job Agencies

When it comes to company culture and its values, job seekers are left in the dark under the traditional approach. Job agencies put a lot of focus on values and company culture because of their importance. A potential employee doesn’t just need to possess the right skillset. They need to fit into the company culture.

Look at it from the agency’s perspective. It’s beneficial for them to develop systems that match up employee and employer more efficiently because it leads to further business.

Benefit #4: Reduced Hire Time for Job Seekers

Online recruiting has been successful for good reason. It provides a much more efficient model than the traditional approach. Job seekers are shown jobs that directly relate to their resume so the time saved in the initial search is enormous. Then time is saved on the application process since it’s streamlined right into the system.

Plus employers are able to filter out irrelevant applications much more efficiently, so that means it takes less time to get through the initial resumes. Again, this shaves time off of the hiring process. Job seekers enjoy the benefit of a much quicker process.

Benefit #5: Networking on a Huge Scale

Networking plays a huge role in building a career. Job agencies provide a wonderful opportunity for networking on a large scale with a highly focused group within the same industry as you. Take advantage of these powerful tools to build your network

For instance, when you send your resume in to a business, it goes directly to that business’s hiring department and you rely solely on that one document to get a job. When working with an employment agency, you have people in your corner. These recruiters spend a lot of time connecting with companies so all of this information will help you build a network. You just have to make it work for you.

Benefit #6: Take Advantage of your Specialized Skills

Jobs within the IT industry often require specific skillsets that are essential for candidates. These specialized skills stand out on a resume and companies will not necessarily announce some of them openly, but they will look for them on a resume.

Job agencies will match your specialized skills with specific jobs during its matching process. Plus they have done most of the homework for you. Keep in mind that a recruiter’s job is to assist a business in finding the most qualified person to fill a specific position. So they will take extra steps to ensure that they are matching your resume with the right position.

Benefit #7: Provides Long-Term Options

Even if you don’t get the first job you apply to, job agencies are constantly helping businesses find employees. Your name will be in their database so you’re still on the radar.

When the right job position opens up, you’ll be contacted to submit an application. So this is a huge benefit of working with job agencies.

Take Advantage of the Benefits of Using Job Agencies

Finding a job is a challenging process. You’ll spend a lot of time fine-tuning your resume, filling out applications, and going to interviews. Although job agencies provide tools to make this easier, it’s still not handed to you on a silver platter.

Make sure you write a killer resume, build an amazing LinkedIn profile, and do your homework. If you don’t do these three things, then you will dampen the benefits of using an agency for job searches. Remember that hiring agents are there to help so don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Take the next steps to kick-starting your career through job agencies.
